Pete Oxley has added some fine new routes at Dancing Ledge in time for the winter-time quarry season! Right of 'Ken Wilson's last stand' is a fine compact wall taken by 'With or without you', F6a+. This route has definitely been climbed before as a top-rope problem, but now provides a quality lead up a technical wall. Also in this vicinity is the triple roof stack between KWLS and 'Day of the Lords', which is 'Minimum Maximum', F7b+/F7c. Over at the central section the wall just right of 'Seven Years Solitary' is now 'Figure at the Base of a Crucifixion',F7b.
Ben Stokes on John Leonards new problem in the Cuttings Boulderfield
Activity continues at the Ampitheatre Roofs, with Steve Taylor (eventually!) completing the attractive line of 'The Gift', HVS 5b, with Scott Titt seconding. Rob Kennard also added the obvious weaving line through the roofs right of 'Dry Your Eyes Mate': JayKay is HVS 4c. All of the new route information for this cliff is available as a pdf download from the new article on the 'ramblings' page>>
Down at the Cuttings Boulderfield John Leonard has uncovered an interesting boulder just north of the 'Glitter Gulch' area, yielding a sit down start on the left arete, a short direct pocketed wall and a good traverse. Spurred on by this activity, Ben Stokes renewed his acquaintances with the boulderfield to excavate 'Shark Bait',V2, on the recessed boulder due north of 'Lemon Jelly'.
